The Interior Design program is a comprehensive, professional curriculum which provides courses focusing on the vital and basic aspects of interior design. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on the fundamental relationship of interior design, architecture, and the visual and decorative arts. The program prepares students to become professional interior designers who identify, research, and creatively solve problems pertaining to the function and quality of the interior environment. Designers also perform services relative to interior spaces, including design analysis, programming, space planning and aesthetics, using specialized knowledge of interior construction, building codes, equipment, materials and furnishings. They prepare drawings and documents relative to the design of interior spaces in order to enhance and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

The Interior Design Program is nationally accredited by the National Kitchen and Bath Association. It works closely with the organization to assure adherence to kitchen and bathroom design standards.

In addition to Interior Design certificates, the program offers specific advanced certificates that promote program development in terms of successful course completion, alternative basic skills, and enhanced workforce development. These certificates - Kitchen and Bath Design, Computer Aided Drafting and Design, Facilities Planning and Design, Interior Restoration and Preservation - provide alternative paths, and at the same time, answer critical industry needs. Please refer to our additional "major sheet" which lists the curriculum required for these certificates, as well as additional background information.
