Music Scholarship at West Valley College

The West Valley College Music Scholarship supports the needs of music majors who pay for their own weekly, private lessons. It is funded with proceeds from the Young Artist Concert Series, WVC music department concerts, music faculty donations, as well as outside donations. Tax-deductible donations to support the needs of our music majors can be made to "West Valley College Advancement Foundation Acct. 683."

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Successful candidates must be declared music majors at West Valley College, enrolled at the minimum in MUS 39 Applied Music, a music theory course, a performing ensemble, and a music elective. Students attending other colleges will not be considered for a scholarship. Awards are between $100 to $300 per semester based upon GPA and service to the department.

APPLICATION AND AUDITION
Please turn in application to Lou De La Rosa. Scholarships will be determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to: teachers evaluation, written application, fulfillment of the scholarship requirements, and timeliness in submitting materials. Awards will be given following successful completion of these requirements and academic standing at mid-term. This scholarship is merit based; financial need will not be considered or assessed. All scholarships will be awarded after midterm grades have been calculated. The scholarship committee's decision is final and not subject to challenge.
