The World Languages Department offers a wide and diverse spectrum of courses in world languages. The Department offers two and three years undergraduate programs in French, Italian, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish. It offers courses in Chinese, Spanish for Medical Personnel and American Sign Language.
The Department offers immersion week-end programs in French and Spanish. The Spanish program offers a Study Abroad Summer Program in Tepoztlán, Morelos, México.

Through the teaching of languages the Department seeks a more informed, compassionate, and civic-minded society.
This program is designed to give students the opportunity to be in a foreign language environment from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon at an off-campus site. Students are expected to communicate only in the target language. In the past WVC offered French, Spanish, Italian, German, Russian, and Japanese immersion classes.
The Language Lab, located in LA 27, comprises 29 traditional audio stations, two CD stations, and five VHS stations. We provide listening and speaking resources for Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Japanese and English as a Second Language (ESL).
Depending on copyright restrictions, some tapes and CDs may be duplicated for student use. Most duplicates can be made within 24 hours.
The Language Lab also provides an assortment of foreign-language books, periodicals and films for use in the Lab.
For questions regarding materials, policies, or current hours, please visit the Lab, or call 408-741-4042.
