Back Straight Leg Extension

  • Lie flat on your back, keeping your chin tucked
  • Have a slight pelvic tilt
  • Bend both of your knees while keeping your feet flat on the mat

  • Bring one leg up to your chest, holding on behind your knee
  • Be sure your entire spine is pressing towards the floor - neck to lower back

  • Breathe slowly and deeply, exhaling as you extend the stretch
  • Extend your bent leg towards the ceiling, as straight as possible, while loosening your hold on your leg

  • Keep working your straight leg towards your chest
  • Keep your chin tucked
  • If your knee bends, lower your leg until it is straight
  • Continue to breathe slowly and deeply as you relax your leg muscles, trying to bring the leg closer to your chest
  • When you reach your maximum stretch, bend your straight leg to your chest, then lower it to the floor, with your foot flat and knee bent
