Steps To Follow for a Smooth Registration
- Step 1 - How to Register if you are a NEW, FORMER, or NEW TRANSFER Student
- Submit your application
to the Admissions Office or by applying online.
(Note: Concurrent Enrollment Students must submit a paper application.)
You may
apply on-line. When your completed application is submitted, you will be sent an
e-mail within 48 hours informing you of your registration date and PIN number.
- High School students (grades 10-12) need to also submit a signed
Concurrent Enrollment Form

every semester in person to the Admissions Office.
High school students must also submit a permission form signed by the high school principal
or high school counselor.
- Express Registration - Students taking 6 or fewer units for
personal interest and who do not need advising may skip to Step
4 then to Step 6 or 7.
- Step 2
- Register or sign-up for orientation. (as needed)
- Orientation is strongly recommended for all new first-time college students planning
to work towards a degree or certificate at West Valley College or to transfer to a 4-year college.
(See below for schedule of offerings and sign-up procedures.)
- Make note of the Date, Time and Location
- Step 3
- Attend an Assessment session for English and reading. (as needed)
- If planning to register for English, Reading, or Mathematics classes at
West Valley, Assessment is necessary unless you can provide the
Assessment Office with a grade of "C" or better in appropriate
college Courses or test results from another college that
clearly identifies eligibility.
- If you have scheduled an orientation, assessment should be completed at
least two days prior to your orientation session. (See below for assessment schedule)
- Step 4
- Obtain a free student ID card in the Admissions Office. (everyone)
- Bring one form of photo identification or birth certificate,passport
or other official documents.
- Step 5
- Attend your scheduled orientation session. (as needed)
- Be sure to bring the following:
- Assessment results (see Step 3)
- Pencil and/or pen
- Schedule of Classes (available in Bookstore)
- West Valley Catalog (may be purchased in Bookstore)
- Records of previous college or high school courses completed
- Step 6
- Clear prerequisites by submitting transcripts or grade
reports to the Assessment Office. (as needed)
- If a class you
wish to take has a prerequisite that you completed at another
college or in high school, submit an unofficial transcript to
the Assessment Office in the Counseling Center.
- Step 7
- Register for classes and pay fees by phone or MyWebServices (everyone). If you have applied
and been found eligible for a Board of Governers Fee Waiver
(BOGW), you will not be required
to pay enrollment fees.
- Note your College ID # and 6-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN)
- You are eligible to either call T-REG, (408) 741-8734, or access MyWebServices
.
- Between the hours of:
- 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday
- Noon to 11:00 p.m. Friday and Sunday
- 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Saturday
- Note: If
someone else will be registering for you in-person, provide that person
with a signed note of authorization.
- Step 8
- Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA)
to help pay for your enrollment fees and other school
related expenses.
- Check with the Financial Aid Office to see if
you are eligible for the BOGW Fee Waiver. (408) 741-2024
- Step 9
- Pick up your registration sticker and purchase parking permit in the online or in the Admissions Office. If you have applied and been found eligible for a
Board of Governers Fee Waiver
(BOGW),
you will be required to pay only half of the semester parking permit fee.
