TELECOURSE VIEWING OPTIONS

There are three different ways you may choose to watch your telecourse lessons:

  1. Watch each program as it is broadcast on television, either using an antenna or one of the cable networks. Lessons may also be videotaped using your VCR or TiVo, etc., and then viewed at your convenience.

KCSM is on channel 43 with an antenna and a digital television receiver, but could be channel 17, 21A, 41, or 67 depending on where you live and if your cable system is digital or not. Check your local cable guide for exact channel info.

CCN1 is only on cable and may be broadcast on channel 27, 30, 34, or 50 depending on where you live and whether your cable system is digital or not.

  2. Check out each lesson from the West Valley College Library, one DVD at a time, but viewing may only be done in the A.V. Circulation area of the Library. No checkout of DVDs is allowed. You will first need to obtain a student I.D. card at the Admissions and Records office.

  3. Rent a complete set of all of the DVDs for the entire semester for $50 and receive a partial $25 dollar refund when you return the DVDs at the end of the semester. You must be officially enrolled in the course to rent the DVDs. Here is the procedure:

    1. Officially enroll in the course.
    2. Obtain a Student I.D. Card from the Admissions and Records office if you don't already have one.
    3. Go to the Cashier in Admissions and Records and pay the $50 semester rental fee. Be sure to save the receipt.
    4. Take the receipt to the A.V. Circulation desk in the West Valley College Library, give them the receipt, show your Student I.D. Card, and sign the rental agreement.
    5. You will receive all of the TeleCourse lessons on DVD to use throughout the semester at your convenience.

By renting the DVDs, you agree to return the complete set along with the tape cases to the A.V. Circulation desk in the West Valley Library before the end of the semester. Upon the return of the DVDs, you will receive a voucher for a $25 refund issued at the Admissions Office. Therefore, your net cost is $25.

Note: If the DVDs are not returned by the end of the semester (you'll be given the exact due date at the A.V. desk) you will forfeit the $25 refund and your grades and transcripts will be withheld until the materials are returned. If you lose any of the DVDs, the replacement cost is $35 per individual DVD. There is a $1 fee for each case that is not returned. Remember, our licensing agreement with PBS does not allow us to sell the DVDs.

You do not have the option of keeping the rented DVDs at the end of the semester.
