EOPS

Extended Opportunities Programs & Services (EOPS) is here to assist you in making your college experience successful; getting through college is not an easy task, especially when you try to do it alone! Since 1969, EOPS has been a California state funded program that provides an accessible and rewarding college experience to low income and educationally disadvantaged students that are facing social, economic or language barriers. Many of our students embrace the college-going culture and successfully transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

  • PAL Academy - Supplemental Instruction for Math 103, Math 106 and Math 10

  • Peer Tutoring for all Levels of Math

  • Emergency Loans

  • Scholarship Assistance

  • Additional Services, i.e access to CARE and connection to community services

How do I become an EOPS Student?

After you enroll at West Valley College and apply for Financial Aid, come into the EOPS office to obtain an application or download one below. Feel free to check in with one of our helpful staff to better understand your eligibility for our programs and services, we will be happy to assist you in person.

*Please note - Application processing takes approximately 3 weeks, you will be notified of your application status via U.S. mail. Students are encouraged to apply ASAP as applications are processed on a first come first served basis. At this time, email applications are not accepted. Prior to applying, please review the eligibility requirements below.

EOPS Eligibility and General Requirements

  • Have fewer than 70 units of degree applicable college credits and less than 6 semesters at West Valley

  • Be financially and educationally disadvantaged as determined by the State of California, qualifying requirements are listed below - Students must meet one of the Income Levels and at least one of the Secondary Requirements to qualify:
